This past weekend I received the opportunity to attend a paint event courtesy of PaintNite at Mellow Mushroom Restaurant in the Adams Morgan area in DC. I invited my friend Amaris for some girl time and to tap into our creative juices. We got to spend about two hours creating an "Emerald The Elephant" painting over refreshing cocktails and really good food.
PaintNite is a good way to get away from your typical night out. I love their motto: "put down your phone and pick up a paint brush". They're a global company so these events are offered across the country and beyond. The events are held in local bars and restaurants, so go on their site and check out when the next local paint event near you is. I always wanted to attend one of these events to tap into my inner Picasso. Haha!
You don't have to be artistic to attend one of these events. The objective is to have fun with it and let out your inner creativity. Our instructor was amazing as he was both really funny and made the class so enjoyable. He taught us step by step but still gave us the freedom to be creative and add our own details to the painting.
Amaris and I had so much fun painting over appetizers and sangrias. I must say our paintings came out pretty good. I do admit, I didn't think I was going to able to paint this elephant and all its detail. The hardest part for me was drawing the eye because it had so many intricacies in it.
