If you have not heard of the show Queen of the South on USA Network then you must be living under a rock! This show is amazing; just watch the first 10 minutes of season one and you'll thank me later! My husband and I just finished binge-watching season one. We love to binge watch shows. That is just our thing. We are all caught up and the start of season two, which premiered June 8th, is so bananas. I definitely don't want to ruin it for you guys so I'll just tell you that season two looks like it's going to be a goodie.
A good TV show calls for delicious cocktails and yummy snacks. I prepared some mimosas because I wanted an easy and fancy drink to feel like our protagonist Teresa Mendoza. You can never go wrong with mimosas, I think. It is a super easy to make: champagne plus Orange juice and just mix to complete your beverage. I like to add a lime for extra flavor and because it also makes the drink prettier. There is just something about mimosas to really get a viewing party started. Now, you cannot have a viewing party without something to pair it with. I paired my Queen of the South inspired drink with wheat crackers and Gouda cheese, which just happens to be my favorite light bite. I always feel viewing party menus need to pair light snacks with flavorful drinks instead of super heavy meals. I finished my Queenpin menu with some sour candy, which I thought represented Teresa's sour demeanor at the beginning of the show very well. If you are about to start the series, make sure you grab your cocktail and press play!
If I had to describe Teresa's character in a few words I would definitely say strong and beautiful. More than that, she is just a badass woman who repeatedly kicks ass. I also can't forget her amazing looks. That all white look definitely inspired me to recreate it. Check out my video below and tell me if I nailed it!
I think we all have dreams and ambitions for ourselves and sometimes life gets in the way and it's very easy to just quit. Since I left my 9-5 job in December and decided to do the blog full time I have been working my little butt off to try and make my dreams come true. The path to success is never an easy road. People seem to think that being a blogger means taking pictures of pretty lattes and perfect outfits every day. Believe me, that's not what being a blogger means. There's a lot of hustle behind it because you truly are your own boss. If you don't create an opportunity or knock on someone's door it is not going to come to you and just fall on your lap. Like Teresa, who decided to learn about something she knew nothing about in order to become a success, I found myself learning how to edit videos and how to edit layouts using HTML coding. These last two months have been the best months for me on the blog and I hope it continues to rise from there, and that I continue to push myself the same way Teresa does throughout season one.
I've realized if I give something my all, great things happen. Similar to Teresa, in the start of season 2, she starts to realize how much power and potential she has. Something I've learned in this business is to bet on yourself and never give up. Teresa undisputably slays her dreams. I wanted to share with you guys five tips on how to #Slay your dreams that have helped me in my line of work.
4 Tips On How To #Slay Your Dreams
1 Just keep going
Nothing is ever easy and there will be some days where you will feel like giving up. On those days my best advice is to keep swimming and do not give up because the sun comes out right after the storm. I promise you that there are always better days ahead.
2 Don't let anyone get you down
There's is going to be some people who will not understand your dream. Don't let those people get you down. I like to call those folks the peanut gallery because all it is is background noise. Surround yourself with positivity and people who support you and encourage you.
3 Fight
Whatever your dream is, there may not be enough time or money and there will be a million and one excuses to not do it. At the end of the day please fight for what you want to achieve. There is always a solution to a problem, so do not get discouraged easily.
4 Tell it to the world
I'm a big believer in putting things out to the universe because it creates the law of attraction. My husband always said to tell the universe what you want and it will give it to you. Put a daily reminder on your phone, put a huge piece of paper on your wall reminding you on your dreams and what is it that you want to achieve. It will serve you as an everyday reminder that you are one step closer to your dream.
