Every time I refer to myself as a "mom" it's still sounds surreal to me. This new mom life has good days and bad days and I think I've realized that that's ok. Before I use to be such a planned person and if things didn't go according to plan I would go crazy. Something my daughter has thought me is to adjust to change. Leah is now 11 weeks old and she's starting to get into some type of a routine. So things are a little easier in the house. I still remember in her first month I was so overwhelmed because this was all new to me and I felt there was just not enough time in the day to do everything.
Aside from being a mom, I'm also a wife (a damn good one if you ask me lol) and I don't ever want to stop being one just because I became a mom. I also don't want to lose myself in the process. I still want to do the things I enjoyed before the mom days and I'm not talking about partying up the town but something as simple as going for a manicure or shopping. A long time ago I read somewhere "in order for me to be a good mom and wife I need to take care of myself". I totally agree with that because I cant give 100% of myself to someone if I don't feel 100%. Things are very different now but I'm slowing trying to balance everything out. I'm blessed I have a great husband and we both help each other during this whole new journey so that we don't lose ourselves in the process. Sundays are football days for my husband so I try to give him those few hours to himself while I take care of Leah and he does the same when I want some time to myself to do whatever I want.
Somebody sent me a message a few days ago and told me I look like I have everything together as a mom. I literally laughed out loud. This is a prime example of don't let pretty pictures on social media fool you. I have my moments of breakdowns, meltdowns and everything in-between as a mom. As I share more mom related post on here I want them to be transparent. I want to create a positive space here and not only share the good but also the bad days. Nobody is born knowing everything nor is there a manual to this mom life. So if you're a new mom and feeling overwhelmed you're not alone. Hang in there and try to find that balance and whatever works for you.
