Date night these days has been a little different since becoming parents. We still try to make the best of it though. We try to take advantage of any time we can to try and have those little moments together. We have gone out to eat with Leah even when we don't have a sitter and I'm so grateful she's a very good baby because she doesn't become fussy while out. It's still nice to go out just the two of us and when my mom and sister came to visit a few weeks ago we made plans to go out just the two of us and guess what... we decided to stay home and just rest instead. Haha! Parent life.

When those few date nights do happen I love to dress up. Any opportunity to dress up I'll take it. This navy ruffle jumpsuit from LookBook Store is a perfect date night outfit. It's sexy, chic, and comfortable! I was a little afraid of how it would fit with my postpartum body but I love the fit. The length is a bit long but I decided to roll with it. I love that it made me look super tall. I can't even say my photographer shot at an angle, it's just the way the jumpsuit looks on me that makes me look elongated and I love it! The material is super soft and breathable. I also love the ruffle details. It definitely gives it a nice little flirty touch which is why I love this jumpsuit for a date night outfit idea. Would you wear this as a date night look?

Speaking of date night I thought this would be a great time to share my first date with my husband. All first dates always have a good story. I've written about my husband before here so if you are new here you can get to know him in this post and this post!

On June 3rd, 2011 I went on my very first date with my husband. I picked him up in my car since I was the only one driving at the time and we headed to downtown New York City. It's never a good idea to drive into NYC but we did anyway and parked on the street. We ate at Southern Hospitality, which is Justin Timerlake's restaurant and it's the yummiest soul food ever! Before we moved to D.C. we tried going every year in July to celebrate our first date anniversary. After we were done and our way out, they invited us to have a free shot in the bar downstairs. We said yes and it was the nastiest shot ever! It was so strong and I felt the effects right away because I tripped on my feet when we were exiting the restaurant. I wish we would have never drank that. We then walked to the AMC on 42nd street and watch a X-Men movie that had just came out. (I should have known then he was a comic book head). Since it was a new release the theater got packed early. By the time we got in we had to sit in the first row right up front. I HATE seeing movies that close because you can never see anything. I admitted to my husband years later that I kind of fell asleep during the movie. Haha! It was almost midnight in my defense.

After the movies we were calling it a night and we were walking to my car so I can drop him back home since we lived in the same direction. We couldn't find the car and for a minute I thought we just forgotten were we had parked. After a while it dawned on me that the car must have gotten towed because I was certain I parked in that area. He went into a local bar just to ask because we found it weird that there were no cars parked outside that street. The guy at the bar said a tow truck came and took a ton of cars parked outside. Now anyone who's lived in NYC knows how confusing those parking signs are so I guess we misread the times it was ok to park there. I started to freak out and didn't know what to do. My husband called his cousin who worked for the NYPD at the time to help us out. All he needed was my license plate number and I honestly couldn't remember it at all. He told us where the nearest towing station was and said it had to be there. The towing station from where we were was about 20 blocks! At this point I was so mad so we decided to just walk to the towing station. Honestly in that walk we talked so much that I forgot I was upset about my car. I should have known then he was the one. To this day that is the dynamic of our relationship. I'm the one that freaks out and he's the one who calmly figures out any problems.
When we finally made it to the NYPD towing place we waited for a very long time. When the officer finally came back I was so relived to know my car was actually there. It cost $300 to get the car out. Apparently I missed the signed that said night cleaning and that's why I got towed.

My husband paid for the ticket, and I must say I must have been his most expensive first date ever lol. It's about to be 8 years since that day and I honestly still remember it like it was yesterday. I can't wait for Leah to ask us how did we meet and about our first date because it's such a great story to tell.
