These past few days have been a bit of a fog for me because of the death of Kobe Bryant. It's so crazy to see how the death of someone you didn't even know personally or ever met could impact you. For those that don't know, I was a huge basketball fan from 3rd grade all the way to high school. I use to neglect going out to hang out with friends just to stay home and watch NBA games. I was a ride or die Laker fan thanks to him. Bryant was my sports idol and I was very convince I was going to play professional ball. As I got older my love for sports died a bit but I still loved following Bryant's life on social media. As he became a parent and started a family I thought that was so beautiful and when I became I parent I understood that love. To read about his tragic death it kind of felt like a piece of my childhood was gone and to know he experienced this tragedy with his daughter breaks my heart because your duty as a parent is to always ensure your child that everything will be ok no matter what and those last seconds where he had to lie to his child telling her everything would be ok when he knew it was not going to be is heartbreaking. He left behind a wife that lost the love of her life and daughter. Their will be 3 daughters that will not grow up with their father or sister from that day on.
It's crazy how a tragedy impacts you and shifts you. Live, laugh, love because life is short. You never know when you're giving someone their last hug, their last kiss, their last goodbye. Smell the flowers while you still can. Hug your loved ones a little tighter and appreciate them a little more. RIP to all the lives that were lost that day. All I know is that is a beautiful 1:1 basketball game happening in heaven with Bryant and his daughter.
